What Sets Us Apart?
Energy Breakthrough
An enrichment program for Year 5/6 students, acting as both support and extension and catering to all abilities and interests.
Students spend 6 months working towards a 3 day camp in Maryborough where they compete in a Grand Prix against approximately 70 other schools in a Human Powered Vehicle race. Our teams participate in the following three components: A 30 minute oral presentation to a panel of judges, an assessment of student knowledge of their vehicle and how it represents sustainability and environmental awareness and a 14 hour endurance race in the vehicle.
Camping Program
Our extensive camping program allows students the opportunity to explore the great outdoors, develop important life skills, and create lasting memories. Ranging from an overnight stay at school, to Billabong Ranch (Echuca) ,Phillip Island Adventure Resort, Kangaroobie (Princetown) and Rumbug (Foster).
Our carefully planned camping trips offer a perfect blend of adventure, education, and fun. Students engage in team-building activities, strengthen their resilience, step out of their comfort zone and forge new friendships.
Student Leadership
Our student leaders represent Laurimar Primary School with pride. Comprising of 2 School Captains, 2 Vice Captains, 10 House Captains and Subject Captains, these exceptional students lead our assemblies and assist with special events around the school. They participate in opportunities such as the National Young Leader's Day, Peer Mediation Program, School Council meetings, Anzac Day, Grandparents' Day and our Open Evening. Through a rigorous application and voting process, these leaders are selected, making it a true honour to be a part of this distinguished team.
Junior Environmental Council
The Junior Environmental Council (JEC) is composed of environmentally conscious students from various grade levels. These students are selected based on their passion for the environment and their commitment to making a positive impact. The JEC actively promotes environmental awareness and implements eco-friendly initiatives within the school community.
Junior School Council
The Junior School Council (JSC) comprises a single representative from each classroom or portable in grades 3-6. These representatives are chosen through peer elections and play a vital role in representing student perspectives within the school. They frequently take the lead in organising fundraising activities and enjoyable events.
InterSchool Sports
Our participation in InterSchool sports provides students with the opportunity to compete in a sporting program alongside other schools in our zone.
This opportunity is for all Year 5 & Year 6 students, and runs for 4 terms per year. Students develop skills through training and competing in sports such as softball, soccer, volleyball, football, hotshots tennis, netball, basketball, rounders and cricket.
Junior Rangers
Junior Rangers is a sustainability extension program where students are selected who are passionate about the environment. They meet each week for two sessions to learn about the environment, sustainability and how they can help make a positive difference to the world.
OSHC Holiday Program
Work full time? We can continue to support your child during the holidays with our OSHC Holiday Program. Memorable experiences include excursions to the movies, incursions (reptile encounters/Royal Flying Doctors/magicians etc), visits to local playgrounds as well as activities such as craft and cooking.
Furry Friends @ LPS
Meet our furry friends - we have Nala (yellow Labrador), Archie (Golden Retriever), Marley (sandy Golden Retriever), Winston (Miniature Dachshund) and Luna (chocolate Labrador). Our school is fortunate to have these incredible four-legged companions as part of our community. These dogs provide invaluable support to our students…and also our staff!
You can often spot them during our 'Walk & Talk' sessions, peacefully snoozing in a cozy reading corner, or receiving gentle brushes and cuddles from students seeking a moment of respite outside the classroom. These delightful canines enhance our school environment and bring joy to all who interact with them.
